I belive that there has been some Global Warming over the past 15 years. The question is whether it is man-induced, or just a product of natural temperature cycles which occur due to circumstances beyond our control (such as sun flairs).
The Minnesota Senate will be discussing the issue of Global Warming this session. So, I am soliciting information from my constituents right now.
I have read studies which suggest that there has been a leveling of mean global temperature since 1998. Some scientists are now projecting global temperature decline within the next 3-5 years.
I have a healthy skepticism about the claim that humans are responsible for the warming of planet earth.
Here is a Post from the Powerline Website, reminding us of the prediction for global cooling back in the 1970’s.
I believe that some of the proposed solutions would have devasting consequences on our culture and economy.
I will be posting my research and links to studies and articles on this topic during the next 3-4 weeks. I am interested in reviewing research articles or studies (but not political commentary) which prove that global warming is caused by man.

Hi Tom.
Here’s information with regard to (the UN’s) IPCC. They released their 4th report this mont (IPCC Fourth Assessment Report: AR4).
Then there’s Scientific opinions on climate change.
For completeness, it’s also recommended one reads Scientists opposing the mainstream scientific assessment of global warming.

Senator,
good environmental policy does not have to be bad for our economy. Look around Northfield. Both Colleges have wind turbines. These turbines are good for the environment because they reduce our need for coal based energy. They also represent good economic decisions. St. Olaf is saving 20-30% annually on its energy costs.
EU nations use roughly half as much energy as the United States per capita. The EU plans to reduce Carbon Dioxide emmissions by 50% while the U.S plans to increase Carbon Dioxide emmissions by 25%. We are moving in the wrong direction.
Can we really afford to gamble on whether or not you are convince global warming is man made?
Look at the auto industry. The big 3 have continued to focus production on trucks and SUVs while Toyota and Honda cannot build hybrids fast enough. This was a strategic mistake by GM, Ford and Chrysler. A wise investment in hybrid technology is paying off for their competition. Good environmental policy=good business decision.
