Senator,
good environmental policy does not have to be bad for our economy. Look around Northfield. Both Colleges have wind turbines. These turbines are good for the environment because they reduce our need for coal based energy. They also represent good economic decisions. St. Olaf is saving 20-30% annually on its energy costs.

EU nations use roughly half as much energy as the United States per capita. The EU plans to reduce Carbon Dioxide emmissions by 50% while the U.S plans to increase Carbon Dioxide emmissions by 25%. We are moving in the wrong direction.

Can we really afford to gamble on whether or not you are convince global warming is man made?

Look at the auto industry. The big 3 have continued to focus production on trucks and SUVs while Toyota and Honda cannot build hybrids fast enough. This was a strategic mistake by GM, Ford and Chrysler. A wise investment in hybrid technology is paying off for their competition. Good environmental policy=good business decision.

Hi Tom.

Here's information with regard to (the UN's) IPCC. They released their 4th report this mont (IPCC Fourth Assessment Report: AR4).

Then there's Scientific opinions on climate change.

For completeness, it's also recommended one reads Scientists opposing the mainstream scientific assessment of global warming.
