Here is a critical, but well documented and footnoted article which looks into the workings of the IPCC.
The Article is entitled: ” Politics Posing as Science: A Preliminary Assessment
of the IPCC’s Latest Climate Change Report “.
The article includes this sentence, “The people of the world should not let themselves be steamrolled by a report that reflects the IPCC’s interest in promoting climate change fears, rather than in conveying the weight of the scientific evidence.”
It’s an interesting read and I invite comments.
I also read another interesting article in the Christian Science Monitor entitled, ” Let Policy follow Science: Tie a Carbon Tax to Actual Warming. ” The article is Linked here. The article makes a case for “dynamic” global warming strategy, which allows change in policies based upon new scientific observations in the future. Many scientists believe that sunspot activity, or the lack thereof, has more impact on global temperature, than carbon emissions. Better evidence of the effect of sunspots will be known by 2010, when the model projects the beginning of global cooling.
It always baffles me when people, elected politicians no less, would much rather listen to a political think tank than a panel of respected scientists. To me, this is backwards thinking.
Much of what they have to say is simple wrong–not surprising from a unreliable source like the AEI. For example, they write, the summaries “are written mainly by bureaucrats
rather than scientists,” whereas, in reality, they’re written by scientists, Nobel Nobel laureates, and other highly respected scientists (e.g. Bernstein, Bosch, Christ, Davidson, etc.). They also say the IPCC process is to update the reports to conform to the summaries, where as they’re actual sated policy is to make the summaries “consistent
with the factual material contained in the full scientific, technical and socioeconomic assessment …”
I could go on, but there’s not enough time to cover everything.
The one response I enjoy giving to global warming claims is the fact that Mars and other planets are warming up almost the same amount as is the Earth.
I’m not saying that we are not lethally damaging our planet and must stop, for that part is definitely true,
I am saying that Global Warming claims are Junk Science being used by the very people and corporations most responsible for poisoning our planet to hijack the ’save the planet’ message to put the blame for it’s demise on those Not responsible for it, and manipulate us all to achieve their own dastardly agendae.
Just like the Anti-Smoking Junk Science about Second Hand Tobacco Smoke is doing too.
